Chief Executive Carrie Lam on Monday announced plans to relax coronavirus restrictions at restaurants from April 29, under the condition that staff and customers are vaccinated.
Currently, restaurants can only operate until 10pm, with a maximum of four customers at each table.
Lam said in the first phase, restaurants can operate until midnight and up to six customers can be seated at each table as long as all staff have taken the first dose of vaccine.
All customers will also be required to use the LeaveHomeSafe app.
During the second phase, she said, if all staff are fully vaccinated, restaurants can set up a specific area for customers who have taken the first dose of vaccine.
In this area, eight customers can be seated at each table while banquets of up to 100 people can be organised. Restaurants can also operate till 2am.
In the final phase, 12 customers can be seated at each table within the specific area as long as they are fully vaccinated.
Meanwhile, the CE said bars can also reopen at limited capacity if all staff and customers have received the first dose of vaccine, adding that restrictions can be further relaxed if all staff and customers have received both jabs.
She said the current social distancing measures will be extended for two weeks till April 28, and the relaxation can take effect from April 29.
