A horse owner in Hong Kong who was diagnosed with the new coronavirus earlier, was confirmed by the Fisheries and Conservation Department that her squirrel dog had recently been infected with the new coronavirus.
The blood samples collected were tested positive by the University of Hong Kong’s laboratory serology test. Represents the presence of antibodies in the blood of squirrel dogs, showing that the dogs are immune to new coronavirus virus.
Veterinary experts and scientists at City University and HKU agreed with the results and determined that the dogs had been infected with the new coronavirus virus.
According to the agency, dogs infected with the virus are uncommon. Currently, 25 cats and dogs are being quarantined because they live with confirmed humans or close contacts. Only two dogs are positive, indicating that cats and dogs are not easily infected so there is also no evidence that the virus will spread from dogs.
